2012 Powwow Theme: Honoring our Future Through our Youth
The theme of this year’s powwow will be “Honoring our Future Through our Youth.” Passing along the traditions of our Tribe to our youth will ensure that our rich culture will continue to thrive generation after generation. For this reason, we have decided to honor our future through our youth at the 2012 Mashpee Wampanoag Powwow.
The Mashpee Wampanoag Powwow is the longest running powwow on the East Coast. The traditional celebration of Mashpee Wampanoag “People of the First Light” culture features Native American dancing, drumming, games, food, art, jewelry, wampum, crafts and clothing.
This year, The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe will be awarding $35,000 in prizes to winners of the dance and drum competitions.
