Under funding from the BIA-sponsored Indian Reservation Roads Program (IRR),  the Mashpee Wampanoag Buildings, Grounds and Roads Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of all BIA and Tribal owned roadways and parking lots.

It is the goal of the Buildings, Grounds and Roads Department to provide safe and adequate transportation and public access for Tribal members who seek access to basic goods and services.

Our Department has recently been extended an invitation to sit as the Mashpee Wampanoag representative and voting member of the Cape Cod Commission (CCC) and Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).  After a long hiatus we have re-established our presence on these committees,  and have had regular attendance at all meetings.  This relationship has in short order led to the submission of a grant by the CCC, on behalf of the Tribe,  to fund a transit needs assessment.  Our goal would be to ultimately develop a transit plan that would increase Tribal citizens abilities to access employment, services and resources.  We look forward to a mutually productive relationship with the CCC moving forward.

It is also the responsibility of the Mashpee Wampanoag Buildings, Grounds and Roads Department to maintain and care for all Tribal properties and buildings.  The Tribal buildings and grounds we service include:  the Museum,  Parsonage,  Meeting House,  Cemetery,  Maushop, Mizzenmast, and the Pow Wow Grounds.  We are also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance needs of all Tribal office space
